Maria Claudino (Maria Clara Rodrigues Claudino) was born in Vila Real in 1949
In her youth she manifested already a great interest in Arts, particularly painting.
In Lisbon she frequented classes of painting in tile and glass.
In 2005, after what would be her last exposition in these domains, encouraged by some artists, she began her studies in the techniques of painting with oil. She visits museums and studies the works of the known painters of the XVII and XVIII centuries.
As a self-taught person, traverses the difficult road of this new experience and started using oil in her paintings.
She dedicates herself exclusively to the subject that sensitizes her most: "Still life".
In 2007 she left her job to dedicate herself exclusively to painting.
In a village nearby Óbidos (Centrum West of Portugal), she refurbished her art studio and began painting commissioned orders after her first exposition in 2005.
Maria Claudino, feels that her compositions earn more realism if she has all the elements in front of her when painting, for that purpose she started cultivating a big diversity of fruits and flowers.
Although she also paints objects of everyday’s life, her preference is doubtless old pieces. She visits regularly antiquity fairs collecting objects that would wake up the senses and that she integrates in her compositions.
